What to expect in the first few days? ⏳
Blepharoplasty is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure, which means patients can go home the same day. During the first 48-72 hours, it is normal to experience:
- Mild swelling or oedema: This is the tissues’ natural response to treatment.
- A feeling of tightness: Your skin will feel somewhat tighter, which gradually wears off.
- Minor bruising: Depending on each patient’s skin, bruises may appear, which clear up within a few days.
The secret to a good result 🛡️
To ensure perfect healing and natural results, at Clínica Ramírez & Gálvez we recommend:
- Cold compresses: Applying cold in a controlled way during the first two days helps reduce swelling dramatically. ❄️
- Relative rest: There is no need to stay in bed, but you should avoid strenuous physical exertion and bending your head down during the first week. 🛌
- Sun protection: As we always remind you, the sun is the enemy of scars. Wearing certified sunglasses is essential to protect the area. 😎
- Specific hygiene: We will give you simple guidelines for cleaning the area and applying any ointments or drops required.
When will I be back to normal? 🗓️
Every patient is unique, but as a general rule:
- After 5-7 days: The stitches are removed (if there are any, as in many transconjunctival lower blepharoplasties they are not even needed). At this point, most patients feel comfortable returning to their social and working lives.
- After 2-3 weeks: The swelling has gone down considerably and the results start to become very noticeable (as you have seen in our recent “Before and After” cases). ✨
- Final result: Although the change is visible early on, the tissues fully settle within a few months, revealing fresh, vibrant eyes.
